Ultracet is a most effective and reliable pain reliever used in the management of moderate to severe pain. Ultracet encloses a combination of two generic drugs called Tramadol and Acetaminophen. This medicine offers better pain relief than either medicine used alone. Ultracet is very efficient in managing chronic pain, acute pain or pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint ache.

Mechanism of action of Ultracet:

Tramadol belongs is an opiate narcotic analgesics that inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin in the CNS and enhances the levels of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin in the CNS. This causes the inhibition of pain transmission in the spinal cord and in the CNS. Acetaminophen blocks the activity of COX enzymes that prevents the formation prostaglandins. Thereby, it produces analgesic and antipyretic effect in the body.

Dosing schedule of Ultracet:

Ultracet tablet encloses 37.5mg of Tramadol and 325mg of Acetaminophen. A patient has to consume 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as desirable for pain relief up to a maximum of 8 tablets per day. Do not take this medicine for more than 5 days of treatments.

Contradictory conditions for the use of Ultracet:

The use of Ultracet is contraindicated under certain medical conditions such as severe asthma or breathing ailments, epilepsy, severe kidney or liver dysfunction, blockage in stomach or intestines, metabolic disorder, meningitis or encephalitis and allergic reactions with generic Tramadol or Acetaminophen.

Noxious effects of Ultracet:

A patient may experience some noxious effects while relying on the treatment of Ultracet such as lightheadedness, sleepiness, weakness, stomachache, constipation, loss of appetite, dry mouth, indistinct vision, sweating, itching, and insomnia.

Things to be kept in mind while using Ultracet:

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages or sleeping medications while relying on the treatment with Ultracet.
  • Intake of Ultracet may impair your thinking or reactions, so drive a vehicle or operate any machinery after using this medicine.
  • If you have taken a MAO inhibitor like Isocarboxazid, Linezolid, Methylene blue, etc, then you should wait for 14 days before using Ultracet.
  • Do not consume Ultracet if you are a pregnant woman or a breastfeeding mother.
  • Ultracet may be habit-forming, so do not recommend this medicine to a patient with a history of drug abuse or addiction.
